VFX Editor – DNEG (London, United Kingdom)

DNEG is a global leader in visual effects and animation, and we are looking for a highly skilled VFX Editor to join our essential Editorial team. Working closely with Production, you will be the editorial backbone for your assigned shows, ensuring seamless communication and accurate data management between our internal teams and the client.

🌟 The Role & Key Responsibilities

As a VFX Editor, you will be crucial to the show’s success by:

  • Editorial Management: Managing all editorial tasks, maintaining a thorough knowledge of all cuts, and ensuring internal teams are always working with the latest scans.
  • Data Integrity: Maintaining and updating shot and VFX databases (e.g., Shotgun/ShotGrid) accurately.
  • Client Liaison: Serving as the primary editorial point of contact, liaising directly with client editorial teams, and assisting in running client review sessions within DNEG.
  • Training & Mentorship: Training, encouraging, and supporting Editorial Assistants and Assistant VFX Editors, and delegating work fairly to promote a rewarding training environment.
  • Creative Support: Assisting the PR and HR teams with creating promotional material, in-house initiatives, and showreels that highlight DNEG’s exceptional work.

✅ What You’ll Need (Must Have)

  • Experience: At least 2-3 years of proven experience working within a VFX Editorial Department.
  • Software Expertise: High level of proficiency in Adobe Premiere.
  • Technical Knowledge: Expert understanding of all editorial tools, film and HD video formats, files, frame rates, and resolutions.
  • VFX Process: A firm understanding of the VFX process and terminology, including LUTS and colour space.
  • Encoding/Playback: Extensive experience with encoding/transcoding, a solid understanding of video codecs and file formats, and hands-on experience using Adobe Media Encoder, Shotgun (ShotGrid), and 2k playback software (e.g., Baselight, Framecycler, or RV).

✨ Great to Have (Nice to Have)

  • Experience with Nuke and Photoshop.
  • Familiarity with After Effects.
  • Basic understanding of Fedora Linux.
  • Knowledge of film key-code.
