Join DNEG, a leading global visual effects and animation company, as a VFX Editor in our Sydney studio. This is a permanent, Hybrid Remote role requiring a highly experienced and technically proficient individual to be the editorial cornerstone for our feature film and episodic projects.
🌟 The Opportunity
The Editorial team is essential to DNEG’s success. As the VFX Editor, you will work hand-in-hand with our Production teams, managing all complex editorial tasks for a show and serving as the key point of contact between our internal artists and the client.
✨ Key Responsibilities
- Editorial Management: Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all cuts, ensuring shot and VFX databases (Shotgrid) are meticulously updated with the latest client scans and edits.
- Client & Production Liaison: Act as the primary editorial bridge, liaising directly with client editorial teams, and assisting with running client review sessions.
- Technical Pipeline: Execute and manage critical pipeline tasks, including handling scan turnovers, publishing edit references, and QCing/approving all outgoing materials for client review and final delivery.
- Creative Support: Apply your editing skills to assist PR/HR teams by creating promotional material, showreels, and in-house initiatives.
- Mentorship & Training: Play a core role in developing junior talent by training, encouraging, and supporting Editorial Assistants and Assistant VFX Editors.
✅ Essential Requirements (Must Have)
- Experience: At least 3-5 years of professional experience working within a VFX Editorial Department.
- Software Proficiency: Demonstrated high-level proficiency in Adobe Premiere (and DaVinci Resolve preferred).
- Technical Delivery Expertise:
- Experience handling complex editorial tasks like scan turnovers, client edits, and publishing reference materials.
- Proven ability to QC and approve outgoing materials for client review and final delivery.
- Familiarity reading count-sheets, updating frame ranges, and a strong understanding of retimes/reracks/split comps.
- File Formats & Codecs: Expert understanding of all editorial tools, LUTS, colour space, and a strong grip on Film/HD video formats, frame rates, resolutions, video codecs, and high-end file formats (e.g., EXRs, DPXs, JPEGs).
- Pipeline Tools: Experience using Adobe Media Encoder, Shotgrid, and 2k playback software (e.g., Baselight, Framecycler or RV).
- Showreels: Experience editing company showreels for marketing and bid teams.
➕ Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)
- Familiarity with Nuke and After Effects.
- Experience with Photoshop.
- Basic understanding of Fedora Linux.
- Knowledge of film key-code.
