Website Twitch

Twitch, the global leader in live-streaming entertainment, is looking for a strategic and highly skilled UX Designer to join its Monetization Team in the heart of New York City. In an era where creators are building entire careers through digital communities, this role is pivotal. You will be responsible for designing the financial engines that power Twitch, ensuring that every transaction—from Bits to Subscriptions—is intuitive, rewarding, and respectful of the bond between streamers and their viewers.
This is a high-visibility role requiring a blend of creative empathy and business acumen. Reporting to the Director of Design, you will move beyond simple interface design to architect complex ecosystems that sustain the global creator economy.
UX Designer Job Overview
About the Team: The Monetization UX Philosophy
The Twitch Monetization UX team sits at the intersection of Product, Community, and Revenue. Unlike traditional e-commerce, where the goal is a simple checkout, Twitch monetization is a social event. When a viewer “Gifts a Sub” or “Cheers with Bits,” it is a public act of support that triggers alerts, chat hype, and creator recognition.
Team Mission
Sustainable Growth: Build systems that help creators earn a living without burning out their audience.
Trust & Transparency: Ensure revenue opportunities feel natural and aligned with community values.
Scalable Systems: Create design patterns that work across various cultures and payment methods globally.
Key Responsibilities
As a UX Designer in this vertical, you are expected to be a “Full-Stack” designer, handling everything from the “Why” to the “How.”
Product Lifecycle Management
Opportunity Exploration: Work with Product Managers (PMs) to identify gaps in the current monetization suite. Use competitive analysis and user feedback to find new ways for creators to earn.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Engineers to understand technical constraints and Data Scientists to track how your designs impact “Conversion” and “Churn.”
Iterative Design: You will not just launch and leave. You will monitor live data and community sentiment to refine and improve features post-launch.
Strategic Leadership
Stakeholder Representation: You will represent the Design department in high-stakes meetings with executive leadership, advocating for the user while acknowledging business goals.
Design Mentorship: While you lead projects, you will also act as a guide for junior designers, helping them navigate the complexities of Twitch’s design system.
Experimental Mindset: Conduct A/B testing and “paint-behind-the-door” experiments to validate hypotheses about user behavior and spending habits.
Candidate Requirements
We are looking for a candidate who is already comfortable in the world of high-transaction digital products but has the creative flair to make those transactions feel like “fun.”
Minimum Qualifications
Experience: A minimum of 3 years in a professional UX design role.
Specialization: Direct experience in content engagement or discovery. We need designers who understand how users find and interact with digital content.
Technical Craft: Absolute expertise in Figma. You should be comfortable with advanced prototyping, auto-layout, and maintaining library components.
Visual & Interaction Skill: A strong aesthetic sense. Your designs must look “modern” and feel “snappy” with high-quality micro-animations.
Mobile-First Thinking: Proven ability to design for mobile environments (iOS/Android), understanding the specific constraints of small screens and touch interactions.
The Ideal Profile (Bonus Points)
E-Commerce Background: Previous work on checkout flows, digital wallets, or virtual currencies.
AI Integration: Familiarity with using AI tools to speed up the design process or designing AI-driven user experiences.
User Research: Experience executing your own research plans, including moderating interviews with real streamers and viewers.
Education: A degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Interaction Design, or a related field.
Perks & Cultural Benefits
Twitch offers a world-class benefits suite designed to support employees both inside and outside the office.
Health & Wellness: Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage. This includes Disability Insurance and access to a Medical Advice Line.
Family Support: Generous Maternity and Parental Leave policies, as well as Adoption and Surrogacy reimbursement.
Work-Life Balance: Flexible Paid Time Off (PTO) and a culture that respects “unplugged” time.
Amazon Ecosystem: As a Twitch employee, you receive the Amazon Employee Discount and access to internal career growth opportunities across the entire Amazon network.
Social Impact: Twitch is an Equal Opportunity Employer and actively participates in programs that support diversity in tech.
Working in New York City
The NYC hub is one of Twitch’s most dynamic offices. Located in the center of the world’s media and financial capital, you will be surrounded by a diverse team of designers and engineers. This location offers a unique opportunity to network with industry leaders and attend major tech events, all while enjoying the cultural energy of Manhattan.
How to Prepare Your Application
To stand out in the Twitch hiring process, your portfolio should demonstrate more than just “finished screens.”
Show the Problem: Clearly define the monetization or engagement problem you were trying to solve.
Show the Data: How did you use quantitative metrics to influence your design?
Show the Prototype: Twitch values interaction craft. Include video captures or links to high-fidelity Figma prototypes.
Show the Feedback: Explain how you took a piece of “tough” feedback and turned it into a design win.
Legal Disclosure: Pursuant to local Fair Chance Ordinances, Twitch will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records for employment, ensuring a fair and equitable hiring process for all.
