Estimated Annual Salary Range

$145,000 — $195,000 USD Final compensation is based on depth of experience, reel quality, and technical proficiency in virtual production.

4. Key Responsibilities

As the Unreal Engine Cinematic Director, your mission is to harmonize filmmaking principles with real-time execution.

Narrative & Visual Direction

  • Cinematic Vision: Lead the creation of high-end real-time cinematic and narrative sequences, from initial storyboard concepts to final pixels.

  • Camera Language: Define and execute shot composition, lenses, and camera movement that evoke emotion and drive the story forward.

  • Sequencer Mastery: Build, refine, and polish sequences within the Unreal Sequencer, ensuring smooth transitions and complex event triggers.

  • Pacing & Timing: Oversee the edit of cinematic sequences, ensuring that narrative impact is maximized through expert-level timing and performance.

Technical & Creative Synergy

  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate closely with 3D artists, animators, and engineers to ensure the cinematic vision is technically viable and visually stunning.

  • Lighting & Staging: Guide the placement of light and shadow to create cinematic mood, working within the constraints and opportunities of real-time rendering.

  • Performance Direction: Direct digital human performances, ensuring timing and emotional weight are captured accurately within the engine.

Minimum Qualifications

  • UE Proven Performance: Deep, hands-on experience directing or creating high-fidelity cinematics specifically within Unreal Engine.

  • Filmmaking Expertise: A profound understanding of traditional camera language, editing, and cinematic storytelling principles.

  • Technical Fluency: Mastery of Unreal Sequencer, real-time lighting, and scene composition within a 3D environment.
