Senior Compositor – Dneg

Location: Sydney, Australia

Position at DNEG :: 

As a Senior Compositor at DNEG, you will work closely with VFX and 2D Supervisors to seamlessly integrate the numerous elements that comprise a visual effects shot, including live-action plates and complex computer-generated (CG) elements.

Your work will span a range of tasks, from precise blue/green screen keying and extraction to the highly detailed integration of CG assets into live footage. You will participate in daily review sessions and client feedback meetings, applying established production methodologies while developing creative and effective approaches to solve complex visual problems. You will be responsible for performing all aspects of composite VFX design, ensuring the final work is technically robust, maintains continuity, and perfectly achieves the aesthetic vision of the client.

Key Responsibilities

• Work in collaboration with VFX and 2D Supervisors to composite diverse elements into final visual effects shots.

• Perform all aspects of compositing, including keying, rotoscoping, tracking, color correction, and CG integration.

• Apply production methodologies and develop creative solutions for shot finishing.

• Ensure final rendered shots are technically sound and meet the highest standards of continuity and artistic quality.

• Take part in daily review sessions and client meetings.

Required Skills and Experience (Must Haves)

• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the VFX industry as a Compositor.

• Expert proficiency with Nuke software.

• Demonstrated knowledge and strong interest in photography and practical lighting.

• Excellent communication skills.

• A strong eye for composition and a thorough understanding of color theory.

• Proven ability to deliver high-quality work efficiently and meet demanding deadlines.

Valuable Assets (Nice to Haves)

• Experience working within Linux operating systems.

• Knowledge of Python and/or expression scripting.

• Prior experience in Look Development (Lookdev).
