Fatshark hiring Senior Cinematic Artist, Stockholm

At Fatshark, we don’t just make games; we craft visceral, high-octane experiences that define the co-op genre. From the rat-infested tunnels of Warhammer: Vermintide to the grim-dark depths of Hive City in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, our 190-strong team of veterans is dedicated to one thing: building the best first-person co-op games in the world.

We are currently looking for a Senior Cinematic Artist—a master of framing, a virtuoso of motion, and a visual storyteller who can breathe cinematic life into the grim darkness of the far future. If you have a passion for real-time storytelling and a “hands-on” approach to creating epic trailers and in-game sequences, your next mission starts here in the heart of Stockholm.

Cinematic Artist Job Overview

  • Company Name: Fatshark (Fatshark AB)
  • Job Title: Senior Cinematic Artist
  • Location: Södermalm, Stockholm, Sweden (On-site)
  • Salary / Compensation: Competitive base salary + paid overtime + bonus program
  • Contract Type: 12-Month Temporary Contract (High potential for permanency)
  • Work Model: Hybrid (4 days in office / 1 day remote)
  • Primary Tech Stack: Unreal Engine, Autodesk Stingray, Autodesk Maya / Blender, Adobe After Effects
  • Benefits: Relocation support, occupational pension, health benefits, and dog-friendly studio

As a Senior Cinematic Artist at Fatshark, you are the director of the player’s emotional journey. You will blend the disciplines of 3D art, motion design, and traditional cinematography to create sequences that aren’t just seen—they are felt.

You will be responsible for the entire cinematic pipeline, from initial layout and camera work to lighting and character animation. Working within Unreal Engine (and our proprietary engine, Stingray), you will bridge the gap between gameplay and narrative, ensuring that every cutscene and trailer maintains the grim, atmospheric high-fidelity our fans expect.

Your Mission: Bringing the World to Life

In this role, your work is the face of the game. Whether you are crafting a 30-second teaser for a new DLC or a sweeping in-game cinematic that sets the stakes for a mission, your eye for detail will be the deciding factor in our visual excellence.

Key Responsibilities as Cinematic Artist

  • End-to-End Production: Develop and deliver real-time cinematics, trailers, and visual sequences from concept to final render.

  • Cinematic Craftsmanship: Handle the “Director of Photography” duties—layout, camera movement, focal lengths, and composition.

  • Animation Mastery: Go beyond static scenes by animating, rigging, and keyframing characters to ensure their movements are smooth, weighted, and emotionally resonant.

  • Engine Integration: Work natively inside Unreal Engine and Stingray to prototype, iterate, and finalize shots, ensuring they look stunning while maintaining engine performance.

  • Cross-Disciplinary Synergy: Collaborate with Art, Narrative, Sound Design, and Marketing to ensure the visual rhythm and tone match the “Fatshark feel.”

  • Optimization: Integrate 3D assets and VFX elements efficiently, balancing top-tier visual quality with technical constraints.

What We Are Looking For in Cinematic Artist

Fatshark need a veteran who understands that a great cinematic is more than just “pretty pictures”—it’s about timing, flow, and the marriage of sound and vision.

Technical & Creative Requirements

  • Experience: 5+ years of proven experience in a Cinematic Artist role within the games industry, film, or high-end real-time production.

  • The “Eye”: A sophisticated understanding of lighting, color theory, framing, and how to tell a story through subtle camera movements.

  • The “Hand”: Expert proficiency in 3D tools like Maya or Blender, and motion design suites like After Effects and Premiere Pro.

  • Engine Versatility: Strong experience in Unreal Engine is a must. We also use Stingray, so a willingness to dive into our specific toolset is essential.

  • Animation Prowess: You aren’t just placing cameras; you understand the mechanics of character performance, including rigging and keyframing.

  • Ownership: A collaborative mindset with the ability to take full ownership of a sequence and drive it to completion.
