Position: FX Artist (Mid/Senior)
We’re on the lookout for skilled and passionate FX Artists to join our dynamic team on a short-term contract (3 months). This role is ideal for professionals who thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and love the challenge of creating stunning, photo-real effects for feature films and high-end VFX projects.
As a Mid/Senior FX Artist, you will be responsible for designing and producing complex simulations and dynamic effects such as water, fire, smoke, explosions, clouds, debris, and magical effects — all while maintaining the highest level of realism and technical quality.
Key Responsibilities
Design, create, and implement high-quality, photo-real FX elements, including water, fire, smoke, explosions, clouds, debris, and other natural or magical phenomena.
Develop efficient methods, tools, and workflows to optimize production quality and speed.
Collaborate closely with Technical Directors (TDs) and Pipeline Teams to enhance and streamline FX processes.
Integrate FX elements seamlessly into lighting and shading pipelines for final shots.
Document new tools, workflows, and technologies for future use within the studio.
Report regularly to the CG Supervisor for feedback, creative approvals, and technical guidance.
Execute the creative vision as directed by the VFX Supervisor and CG Supervisor, ensuring consistency across all project deliverables.
Stay updated with the latest industry trends, software, and techniques to continually refine your craft.
Mentor junior artists by sharing knowledge, feedback, and creative guidance.
Requirements
Experience:
Mid-Level FX Artist: 3–5 years of professional experience.
Senior FX Artist: 6–8 years of professional experience in the VFX industry.
Skills & Qualities:
Proven expertise in designing realistic simulations such as water, fire, smoke, and explosions.
Strong understanding of rendering and shading techniques, including compositing layer breakdowns and slap comps.
Proficiency with leading FX tools such as Houdini, Maya, and other simulation software.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to adapt quickly to creative feedback and production changes, even under tight deadlines.
Demonstrated experience working in a high-pressure, fast-paced production environment.
Positive attitude, teamwork mindset, and strong attention to detail.
Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Prior experience mentoring or guiding junior artists is a plus.
A strong demo reel showcasing photo-real FX work is mandatory.
