The Mission: Building Immersive Worlds
As a Mid–Senior Environment Artist, your mission is to transform narrative concepts and gameplay requirements into high-fidelity 3D spaces. You will be responsible for the “look and feel” of the game world, ensuring that every room, street, or landscape tells a story while remaining technically optimized for real-time performance.
You will act as a bridge between the abstract and the tangible, taking rough level designs and turning them into “hero” environments that guide the player and enhance the narrative emotional beats.
Key Responsibilities
1. End-to-End Asset Creation & Set Dressing
- Full Lifecycle: Take ownership of environment areas from initial blockout to final delivery.
- Asset Production: Create high-quality 3D assets, including architectural elements, props, and organic features.
- Set Dressing: Arrange assets within the engine to create lived-in, believable spaces that support the game’s historical setting.
2. Technical Artistry & Modularity
- Modular Kits: Author modular environment kits designed for maximum reusability and efficiency without sacrificing visual quality.
- UV & Texturing: Manage efficient UV layouts, consistent texel density, and high-quality PBR material application.
- Performance Optimization: Ensure all environments hit performance targets by managing LODs, collision meshes, and material complexity.
3. Cross-Discipline Collaboration
- Level Design Support: Work closely with Level Designers to ensure environments support gameplay readability, player flow, and narrative objectives.
- Tech & Lighting: Collaborate with Lighting and Technical Artists to ensure assets interact correctly with the lighting engine and perform smoothly across all target platforms.
- Refining Direction: Follow and contribute to the refinement of art style guides and technical documentation.
Who You Are
We are looking for a seasoned artist who has spent time in the trenches of AAA or high-end indie production. You should have a portfolio that doesn’t just show objects, but shows spaces.
Required Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of 5 years professional experience in the games industry as an Environment Artist.
Software Proficiency: Expert-level skills in industry-standard tools such as Maya or Blender, ZBrush, and the Substance Suite (Painter/Designer).
Engine Knowledge: Solid experience building and managing environments within a real-time engine, with a strong preference for Unreal Engine.
Texturing: Proficiency in creating tileable textures and complex materials.
Communication: Strong interpersonal skills; the ability to articulate artistic choices and accept constructive critiques.
The “Nice to Haves”
Shipped Titles: Having at least one commercial, shipped title on your resume is a significant advantage.
Procedural Workflows: Familiarity with Houdini, Substance Designer, or PCG (Procedural Content Generation) in Unreal.
Scale: Experience working on large-scale or open-world environments.
Optimization: A deep personal interest in technical workflows and performance profiling.

Collaboration: A diverse, artist-driven environment where your voice is heard.
Creativity: The freedom to improvise within an established style and contribute to the project’s visual identity.
Stability: A competitive salary and benefits package tailored to your experience level.
Portfolio Requirements
To be considered for this role, your portfolio must demonstrate:
Real-Time Excellence: High-quality environment art created specifically for games.
Breakdowns: Clear images showing asset wireframes, material textures, and in-engine lighting.
Space Ownership: Evidence that you have owned and completed an entire environment space rather than just individual props.
