The Role: The Bridge Between Vision and Performance

At SuperPlay, the Technical Artist is a critical architect of the “game feel.” You are the essential link between our world-class Art Department and our robust Engineering Team. Your mission is to ensure that the stunning visual concepts created by our artists are successfully translated into performant, scalable, and high-fidelity gameplay experiences within the Unity engine.

As a Senior member of the team, you will drive the implementation of real-time visuals, ensuring they meet the high standards of our Disney-level collaborations while maintaining peak performance on a vast array of mobile devices. You aren’t just an integrator; you are a problem-solver who understands that the best visuals are those that enhance the product without compromising the player’s technical experience.

Core Responsibilities

1. Visual Implementation & Polishing

You will be the primary driver for bringing game features to life. This involves:

• Implementing and polishing real-time visuals in Unity to achieve a high-fidelity “Disney-standard” finish.
• Creating and managing engaging visual effects (VFX), animations, and complex visual sequences that significantly enhance the game’s emotional impact.
• Ensuring that every asset is integrated and validated, maintaining visual integrity across different screen sizes and hardware specifications.

2. Technical Integrity & Optimization

Mobile development requires a rigorous focus on technical constraints. Your duties include:

• Monitoring the performance impact of visual features on various mobile chipsets.
• Optimizing asset size, geometry, and loading performance to maintain high retention rates.
• Using Unity profiling tools to identify and eliminate bottlenecks in the rendering pipeline.

3. Workflow & Tooling Development

To keep a rapidly expanding company moving, we need efficient pipelines. You will:

• Design and build custom editor tools and scripts to empower our artists to create content more efficiently.
• Proactively identify friction in the content creation pipeline and develop automated solutions.
• Integrate and experiment with AI-assisted tools to optimize internal development workflows.

4. Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration

• Work closely with Product Managers and Designers to ensure that visual features align with business goals and gameplay mechanics.
• Collaborate with Developers to write clean, production-ready “view” code, maintaining a strict separation between logic and presentation layers (utilizing patterns like MVP).
• Serve as a mentor to junior and mid-level technical artists, fostering a culture of excellence and shared knowledge.

Requirements: Who You Are

Professional Background

• Experience: You have 3+ years of professional experience as a Technical Artist, with a proven track record of shipping features and content for live mobile games.
• Portfolio: A strong demo reel showcasing high-quality real-time VFX, custom shaders, and dynamic, gameplay-driven visual behaviors.
• Artistic Eye: A deep understanding of motion, color theory, composition, and a high attention to detail that allows you to catch visual discrepancies before they reach production.

Technical Proficiencies

• Unity Mastery: Expert-level knowledge of Unity’s systems, including Timeline, Animator, and Particle Systems.
• Code Proficiency: Strong C# skills. You are capable of writing maintainable, clean code that fits into a professional repository.
• Shader Development: Hands-on experience with HLSL / CGPROGRAM to create bespoke shaders that give our games their unique visual edge.
• Real-Time Rendering: Sophisticated knowledge of post-processing, lighting, and mobile-specific rendering optimization.
• Software Toolkit: Proficient in Maya or Blender, Photoshop, and comfortable using Git (both Client and Console) for version control.
