The Role

We’re seeking a Lead Compositor to join our talented team. In this role, you’ll play a vital part in realizing the final vision of our projects, bringing together the collective artistry of designers, animators, and filmmakers. You’ll not only lead the compositing process but also inspire, mentor, and guide a team of artists to deliver work that pushes creative boundaries.

This is a hybrid role requiring at least 3 days a week in our Soho office. Certain projects may occasionally require full-time onsite presence.

Responsibilities

  • Seamlessly integrate live-action, stop-motion, 2D, and 3D elements into compelling final shots using Nuke.
  • Oversee compositing teams: managing workflow, shot allocation, look development, and project finishing.
  • Run project reviews, ensuring shots meet artistic quality and delivery deadlines.
  • Collaborate with Directors and Creative Directors to elevate the creative vision of active projects.
  • Partner with Producers and Production leadership to balance budget, timeline, and client expectations.
  • Contribute to pitch and pre-production phases with creative, budget, and scheduling insights.
  • Manage project timelines in Flame or Resolve for QC and review sessions.
  • Stay ahead of creative technology trends and bring innovative tools into production workflows.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to compositors at all levels, from interns to juniors.
  • Support team members by resolving technical pipeline challenges and maintaining workflow standards.

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of professional compositing experience across a variety of VFX projects.
  • 1–2 years of proven leadership or team management experience.
  • Expert-level Nuke skills; experience with Resolve, After Effects, or Flame is a plus.
  • Strong eye for detail, color, and visual storytelling.
  • Solid understanding of the full CG pipeline; knowledge of Unreal Engine or Cinema 4D a bonus.
  • Familiarity with Python, AI/ML workflows, or API integrations is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills, with confidence in direct client interaction.
  • On-set VFX supervision experience (or interest in pursuing it) is a plus.
  • Passion for innovation, collaboration, and pushing creative boundaries.
