Company Overview: The Ubisoft Mission
Ubisoft is more than just a gaming company; it is a global leader in entertainment. We believe that diverse perspectives are the fuel for innovation, helping both our players and our teams thrive. Our Saguenay studio is located in the heart of a breathtaking region, offering a unique blend of high-tech career opportunities and an exceptional quality of life.
By joining Ubisoft Saguenay, you become part of a community that values curiosity, collaboration, and the drive to “create the unknown.” We provide a playground for professionals who want to push the boundaries of what is possible in interactive entertainment, particularly within the competitive and constantly evolving ecosystem of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege.
Role Overview
As a UX Designer at Ubisoft Saguenay, you will be the primary architect of the user journey for Rainbow Six Siege. Your mission is to shape clear, intuitive, and high-performance interfaces and interactive systems. Your work will span the core pillars of the game’s “out-of-game” experience, including complex menus, monetization/shop features, social systems, and deep character customization flows.
This role requires a unique blend of psychological insight and technical design. You will transform complex gameplay requirements and backend constraints into ergonomic solutions that enhance player satisfaction. You are not just designing screens; you are designing the emotional and logical flow that keeps millions of players engaged with our systems.
Key Responsibilities as UX Designer
1. Interaction Design & Architecture
Map out comprehensive user flows and interaction paths for the main game menus, in-game shop, and social systems.
Design wireframes and interactive prototypes that prioritize usability, cognitive load management, and aesthetic harmony.
Ensure that customization systems (skins, operators, loadouts) are deep yet accessible to both veteran players and newcomers.
2. Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration
Collaborate daily with UI Artists, Gameplay Programmers, Backend Engineers, and the Graphics Team Leader to ensure feature feasibility and visual excellence.
Serve as the “Voice of the User” during feature design meetings, ensuring that technical implementations never compromise the player experience.
3. User-Centered Research & Data Analysis
Apply rigorous User-Centered Design (UCD) methodologies, including user research, competitive benchmarking, and usability testing.
Analyze player data and feedback loops to validate design hypotheses and identify friction points in existing systems.
Participate in iterative testing cycles, translating playtest results into actionable design refinements.
4. Documentation & Standards
Create and maintain detailed UX Documentation (logic flows, wireframe specs, annotations) to serve as a single source of truth for the development team.
Utilize industry-standard tools—specifically Figma and Miro—to document, explore, and communicate design solutions.
Maintain visual and functional coherence across all menus to ensure a “seamless” feel throughout the Rainbow Six Siege ecosystem.
Required Qualifications & Technical Skills as UX Designer
The successful candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with a passion for understanding the “why” behind user behavior.
Core Qualifications:
Information Architecture: Expert-level understanding of how to organize complex information into navigable, logical hierarchies.
Interaction Design: Strong grasp of interaction principles, ensuring that feedback, affordance, and mapping are consistently applied.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Proven experience working within “V-model” or Agile structures alongside developers and artists.
Analytical Thinking: The ability to look at raw player data or feedback and distill it into elegant design solutions.
Communication: Exceptional ability to communicate UX thinking through high-fidelity visuals and clear technical documentation.
Technical Toolkit:
Figma: Mastery of Figma for wireframing and prototyping.
Miro / Whiteboarding: Experience in using collaborative tools for brainstorming and flow mapping.
Unity/Engine Knowledge: While not strictly required, familiarity with how UX flows are implemented in-engine is a significant asset.
What You Bring to the Team
Curiosity: A deep-seated interest in player behaviors, motivations, and the psychology of gaming.
Accessibility Mindset: A commitment to making games more inclusive by considering accessibility standards (color blindness, motor impairments, etc.) in every design choice.
Problem-Solving Prowess: A portfolio that doesn’t just show pretty screens, but explains the process—the problems faced, the iterations made, and the final results.
Benefits and Perks
Ubisoft Saguenay offers a robust benefits package that reflects our commitment to our employees’ well-being:
Health & Wellness: Comprehensive group insurance (dental, medical, vision) and a proactive employee assistance program.
Work-Life Balance: Generous vacation time and flexible working arrangements (within the office-based framework).
Growth & Development: Access to Ubisoft’s global internal learning platforms and professional development support.
Studio Culture: A vibrant social atmosphere with frequent team-building events and a “human-centric” management style.
Competitive Compensation: Annual performance reviews and a profit-sharing program.
Application Process
To be considered for this role, candidates must provide a professional package that demonstrates both technical skill and design philosophy.
CV Submission: Highlight relevant experience in game development or high-stakes software UX.
Portfolio: A link to your work is mandatory. Your portfolio should clearly showcase your user-centered processes, wireframes, and the logical steps taken to solve complex UX challenges.
Interviews: Candidates will undergo a technical interview with the UX/Graphics lead and a cultural fit interview with HR.
