The Mission: Designing Engagement

As our Game Designer, your primary mission is to identify the core challenges of our game mechanics and find creative solutions that prioritize the player experience. You will be the architect of the invisible rules that make our games addictive, fair, and deeply engaging.

1. Systems Architecture & Documentation

You will be responsible for the “blueprints” of the game. This involves:

  • Core Loops: Creating, documenting, and iterating on gameplay loops, economic models, and player progression systems.

  • Creative Collaboration: Drafting high-level Game Design Documents (GDD) in close partnership with our Creative Director.

  • Cross-Functional Communication: Acting as the primary bridge between design and production, explaining and enriching your documents through daily interactions with developers and artists.

2. The Art of Balancing

A great system is nothing without perfect tuning. You will:

  • Data-Driven Adjustments: Fine-tune units, items, resources, and various character stats to ensure a smooth, rewarding player curve.

  • Constraint Management: Maintaining a high bar for quality while working strictly within technical and design limitations.

  • Iterative Design: Using playtest data and community feedback to polish mechanics until they shine.

3. Hands-On Implementation & Testing

At Playwing Bordeaux Studio, designers aren’t just theorists; they are practitioners.

  • Direct Testing: Regularly playing the game to ensure design principles are properly integrated and that the “feel” matches the documentation.

  • Feedback Integration: Practice iterative design techniques to integrate player feedback and playtest data into the core experience.
