The Mission: Your Production Quests
As an Associate Producer, your primary objective is to maintain the pulse of the project. You aren’t just managing tasks; you are facilitating the creative process by removing obstacles and ensuring the team can focus on what they do best: building a terrifyingly great game.
1. Project Management & Task Tracking
- Workflow Oversight: Collaborate with departmental stakeholders to ensure all work is accurately tracked within our project management software.
- Reporting: Monitor the workload across the team and provide regular reports on progress within the established project timeline framework.
- Meeting Facilitation: Lead and organize meetings to plan upcoming sprints, ensuring that every new piece of work is accounted for and assigned.
2. Communication & Blockage Removal
- Information Flow: Act as the central nervous system for the development team, ensuring that communication between artists, programmers, and designers is clear and timely.
- Dependency Management: Identify potential “blockers”—situations where one team is waiting on another—and proactively work to resolve these issues before they impact the schedule.
- Risk Identification: Support the Senior Production team in identifying technical or creative risks that could prevent the successful delivery of project goals.
3. Feature Ownership
- Area Responsibility: You will be given direct responsibility for specific features or areas of development. This allows you to “own” a part of Phasmophobia, tracking its progression from concept to final release.
- Quality Assurance Support: Ensure that the features under your watch meet the high standards expected by our community.
What We’re Looking For
We value passion and curiosity as much as technical skill. To succeed in this role, you should possess:
- Industry Experience: A minimum of one year of professional experience in game development.
- Interpersonal Mastery: You must be a confident communicator, both verbally and in writing, capable of navigating different personality types and creative perspectives.
- Methodological Knowledge: A solid understanding of Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies.
- Technical Toolkit: Strong experience with JIRA or similar task-tracking software is a significant advantage.
- Gamer Perspective: A deep knowledge of the games industry and a genuine love for the medium.
The Kinetic Games Experience: Benefits & Perks
We believe that a well-supported team creates the best games. Our benefits package is designed to foster both professional growth and personal wellbeing.
- Financial Security: A competitive base salary, a 5% Employer Match Pension Scheme, and both annual and company-performance bonuses.
- Flexibility & Balance: 30 days of holiday (including your birthday and a dedicated wellbeing day), plus a Christmas studio shutdown. We also offer Flextime and hybrid working options to ensure work fits your life.
- Health & Wellbeing: Full Vitality Health Insurance (including vision, dental, and travel cover), Aviva Life Insurance, and a personal wellbeing allowance.
- Professional Growth: A dedicated Training & Development Budget to invest in courses and conferences. You will also have opportunities to travel to major industry events like GDC, Gamescom, and TwitchCon.
- Team Culture: Weekly free team lunches, regular social events, and relocation packages for those moving to the Southampton area.
Industry Context: The Rise of Indie Production
The role of an Associate Producer in the indie space has become increasingly critical in 2026. As independent studios like Kinetic Games manage massive player bases, the complexity of “live service” updates requires a level of organization once reserved for AAA giants. Production is no longer just about timelines; it is about Community Preservation.
In the modern landscape, players expect frequent, high-quality updates. The Associate Producer ensures that the “soul” of the game isn’t lost during rapid scaling. By managing the day-to-day logistics, you allow the developers to maintain the creative risks that made Phasmophobia a hit in the first place. This role is a perfect launchpad for anyone looking to build a career in high-impact project management within the visual effects and gaming sectors.
