We are currently expanding our creative family and looking for Junior, Mid, Senior, and Lead 3D Rough to Final Layout Artists to join us during the thrilling early stages of production. Role Overview: Crafting the Visual Foundation
As a Layout Artist at Able & Baker, you will serve as the virtual cinematographer for our upcoming feature film. Your core mission is to collaborate closely with the directors, episodic supervisors, and story teams to translate static 2D storyboards into dynamic, emotionally resonant 3D shots and sequences.
From the initial rough blockout stage all the way to final layout polish, you will define camera staging, lens choices, character blocking, and compositional flow. Your creative choices will establish the pacing, tone, and visual rhythm of the film, ensuring that every scene hits its dramatic and comedic beats with absolute precision before passing down the pipeline to animation and lighting.

- 🔹 Proficiency in Maya, with strong skills in shot composition, animation, and camera work
- 🔹 Ability to turn storyboards into cinematic and visually dynamic shots
- 🔹 Solid understanding of scene blocking, layout, and camera polish

Requirements & Qualifications
- Software Mastery: Strong, demonstrable proficiency in Maya, with advanced foundational skills in camera animation, character posing, and scene layout.
- Cinematic Sensibility: An exceptional eye for composition, perspective, staging, pacing, and modern cinematic language.
- Pipeline Understanding: Solid grasp of 3D animation pipelines, asset management, and scene optimization.
- Soft Skills: A collaborative, proactive, and adaptable mindset with the ability to take constructive notes and thrive in a team-oriented studio environment.
- Legal & Location Status: Must possess valid legal authorization to work in Spain, with a preference for applicants residing in or willing to relocate to the Canary Islands or Madrid.

- General Ranks (Junior, Mid, Senior): On-site positions based out of our premier Madrid studio or our hub in the Canary Islands. Candidates based in or willing to relocate to the Canary Islands are heavily prioritized.
- Lead Positions: Ultimate flexibility is available for Lead-tier applicants, who are welcome to work either fully remotely or on-site from our Madrid studio.
