Job Overview
The Role: 3D Asset & Prop Artistry
As a 3D Artist Intern, your primary focus is the “tactile” world of the game. In a franchise like Call of Duty, props aren’t just background dressing; they provide cover, tell a story of a lived-in world, and must hold up under the scrutiny of 4K resolution and high-speed gameplay.
Core Responsibilities
- Asset Creation & Pipeline Integration: You will develop high-quality 3D assets, following the pipeline from high-poly sculpting to low-poly baking and PBR (Physically Based Rendering) texturing.
- Topological Integrity: Ensure that game levels maintain topological and event-driven continuity. This involves understanding how assets interact with the game engine’s physics and lighting systems.
- Narrative Support: Collaborate with the Narrative and Level Design teams to ensure that environmental props contribute to the “environmental storytelling.” A desk in a bombed-out office should tell a different story than a desk in a high-tech laboratory.
- Technical Optimization: Video games are a balance of beauty and performance. You will be tasked with ensuring your assets meet strict budget requirements for polygons and texture memory without sacrificing visual fidelity.
- Cross-Departmental Synergy: Support various departments to achieve the final “look” of a level, participating in feedback loops and creative critiques.
Desired Candidate Profile
We are looking for an 3D artist who is as much a technician as they are a creator. The ideal candidate doesn’t just “make models”; they understand how those models live within a complex digital ecosystem.
Educational & Technical Requirements
Academic Standing: You should be a current student or recent graduate in Digital Arts, 3D Animation, Game Design, or a related field.
Software Mastery: While the job description is tool-agnostic, proficiency in the following is highly advantageous:
- Modeling: Autodesk Maya, 3ds Max, or Blender.
- Sculpting: ZBrush (for high-fidelity organic and hard-surface details).
- Texturing: Substance Painter and Designer (PBR workflow is essential).
- Engine Experience: Basic knowledge of Unreal Engine, Unity, or proprietary AAA engines.
- Bilingualism: Due to our location in Quebec and our global collaboration with Activision studios (Infinity Ward, Treyarch, Sledgehammer), advanced proficiency in both French and English is required.
Soft Skills & Culture Fit
- Constructive Communication: We value “vocal” creatives. You should have a natural tendency to share opinions and offer solutions during the creative process.
- Adaptability: The AAA environment moves fast. You should thrive in dynamic settings where project needs can shift rapidly.
- The “Gamer” Lens: A deep passion for video games helps you understand the why behind design choices—like why a certain prop needs a specific collision box for better player movement.

Application Process
To be considered for the Summer 2026 cohort, candidates should prepare a comprehensive digital portfolio. We aren’t just looking for finished renders; we want to see your process.
What to include in your portfolio:
Wireframes: Show us your topology and how you optimize your meshes.
Texture Sheets: Demonstrate your understanding of PBR maps (Albedo, Normal, Roughness, Metallic).
High-Poly to Low-Poly Bakes: Show your ability to capture intricate detail within a game-ready budget.
Hard Surface Work: Since this is for Call of Duty, evidence of hard-surface modeling (machinery, crates, architectural elements) is highly valued.
Note on Diversity: Beenox is an equal opportunity employer. We value diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. We encourage applications from all backgrounds to help us build worlds that reflect the diversity of our global player base.
