The Role: Crafting the Cinematic Blueprint
As a Junior Layout Artist, you sit at the critical junction between 2D storyboards and 3D production. You are the “cinematographer” of the digital world. Your day-to-day mission involves translating the emotional intent of a 2D animatic into a functioning 3D space, setting the stage for the animation and lighting departments.
Primary Responsibilities
Scene Blocking: Assist the senior layout team in interpreting storyboards to block out characters and environments, ensuring the spatial logic of the scene holds up in 3D.
Camera Composition: Support the team in creating initial camera placements, focal lengths, and movement that enhance the narrative beats of the script.
Pipeline Integration: Learn and apply the studio’s proprietary pipeline and naming conventions to ensure that scenes pass smoothly to the Animation and Art departments.
Visual Coherence: Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure that the scale, staging, and composition remain consistent across entire sequences.
Feedback Loop: Actively participate in dailies and reviews, receiving and applying technical and artistic feedback from the Layout Supervisor to iterate and improve your work.
What We Are Looking For: The Ideal Candidate
3 Doubles Producciones aren’t necessarily looking for “the best in the world” yet—we are looking for someone with the drive to become one of the best. We value a proactive attitude and an artistic soul over a decade of experience.
Education & Experience: You are a recent graduate of a 3D Animation/VFX program or have up to 1 year of professional experience in a studio environment.
Technical Toolkit: You possess a solid basic proficiency in Autodesk Maya. You understand the fundamentals of 3D space, camera tools, and basic keyframing.
Storytelling Instincts: You have a “film-focused” eye. You understand the “Rule of Thirds,” leading lines, and how different camera angles can change the emotional weight of a scene.
Collaborative Spirit: You thrive in a team setting. You are comfortable following instructions while also being proactive enough to ask the right questions.
Language Proficiency: You possess Technical English skills (both written and spoken), as our productions often involve international partners and technical documentation in English.
