🌟 Job Overview
As a Senior Lighting / Compositing Artist, you will apply your creative and technical expertise to the Look Development, Rendering, and Compositing (LRC) team. You will be instrumental in setting the visual tone of our projects through advanced lighting and compositing techniques. You will be expected to manage complex lighting setups, collaborate seamlessly across departments, and maintain the overall aesthetic and technical integrity of sequences. Your strong problem-solving skills and artistic eye will be key drivers of visual excellence throughout the production process.
🔑 Key Responsibilities
- Execution: Light, render, and composite complex shots through to final approval using industry-standard tools (Maya, Arnold, and Nuke).
- Development: Develop and implement advanced lighting setups that strategically elevate visual storytelling and mood.
- Look Dev: Perform look development of CG assets and create efficient, reusable light rigs and templates.
- Continuity: Maintain visual and technical continuity across sequences, ensuring all shots adhere to the established style guide.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Art Directors, Supervisors, and other departments to efficiently solve creative and technical challenges.
- Troubleshooting: Proactively identify and troubleshoot complex lighting, rendering, and compositing issues.
- Mentorship: Provide constructive creative feedback and support to team members, contributing to the elevation of overall sequence quality.
- Optimization: Optimize lighting scenes and compositing scripts for maximum performance and consistency.
- Pipeline Initiative: Take initiative in suggesting and implementing pipeline and workflow improvements.
🛠️ Skills and Experience
- 3+ years of experience in a lighting/compositing role within animation, VFX, or a similar production environment.
- Strong proficiency in Maya, Arnold, and Nuke.
- In-depth understanding of look development workflows and CG lighting best practices.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to manage technical complexity across multiple sequences and deliverables.
- Comfortable working collaboratively under tight deadlines, including occasional overtime.
- Bonus: Strong scripting ability in Python or MEL is a significant asset.
