Key Responsibilities Advanced Matte Extraction: Generate articulate and consistent mattes for complex moving objects and characters. Edge Management: Mastery over motion blur, defocus, and fine-edge detail (hair, fur, cloth) to ensure seamless integration in the compositing stage. Complex Tracking: Utilize point, planar, and mocha-based tracking to ensure rotoscoping shapes remain rock-solid across high-motion plates. Quality Assurance: Self-reviewing work to ensure that all mattes are flicker-free and maintain temporal consistency. Collaborative Efficiency: Working closely with the Paint and Comp departments to ensure that the deliverables meet the specific technical requirements of the downstream pipeline. Software Proficiency: Silhouette FX: Deep expertise in shape management and specialized roto tools. Foundry Nuke: Ability to integrate roto into Nuke scripts and understand basic node-based workflows. Mocha Pro: Advanced planar tracking skills to minimize manual keyframing. Specialized Skills: Proven ability to handle fur and hair with organic, believable results. A strong understanding of motion blur—knowing when to use sub-frames and how to represent blur accurately with shapes. Experience with stereoscopic rotoscoping is a significant advantage. Experience Level: Mid-Level (2-4 years): Should be able to handle standard-to-complex shots with minimal supervision.
