Job Summary
Able&Baker is launching an exciting new animated feature film and is seeking talented 3D Rough to Final Layout Artists across all experience levels (Junior, Mid, Senior, and Lead) to join our team during the early development phase. This is a unique opportunity to shape the visual cinematic language of a major film using your expertise in composition, camera work, and animation principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate 2D storyboards into dynamic and compelling 3D cinematic shots.
- Execute strong scene blocking and composition that supports the story and emotion.
- Refine and polish camera work to achieve the director’s vision.
- Collaborate closely with the directorial and art departments to explore and execute new visual ideas.
- Maintain a strong understanding of animation principles, shot flow, and visual continuity.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven professional experience as a Layout Artist in feature animation or high-end episodic series (level commensurate with position applied for).
- Expert proficiency in Maya.
- Strong understanding of shot composition, cinematic language, and camera operation (lenses, movement, staging).
- Ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and adapt quickly to feedback.
- A passion for cinematic storytelling.
Work Model & Location
- Location Priority: Candidates already based in or willing to relocate to the Canary Islands will be strongly prioritized.
- Lead Position Flexibility: We offer more flexibility for the Lead Layout Artist role, including options for full remote work or working from our studio in Madrid.
