Yarn is a seed-stage technology startup based in the heart of SoHo, NYC, dedicated to building a next-generation creative video platform. Backed by Y Combinator, we are reimagining how video content is produced, edited, and distributed. Our client roster already includes industry innovators like Clay and Shopify, and we are scaling rapidly.
We are looking for a Narrative Video Editor to join our small, high-impact team of creatives, designers, and engineers. If you are passionate about the intersection of storytelling and technology, this is your chance to shape the future of a platform that will redefine how stories are told.
The Role: Crafting Compelling Narratives
As a Narrative Video Editor at Yarn, you will be a vital contributor to our creative output. You will work across the spectrum, from polished high-end marketing assets to engaging social-first content. This role requires a unique balance of creative vision and technical versatility, working both independently and in deep collaboration with our product and design teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- End-to-End Editing: Take ownership of video projects from raw footage to final export, maintaining a sharp narrative focus for high-end and social marketing campaigns.
- Workflow Innovation: Collaborate directly with our engineers and designers to refine our internal creative processes and enhance the platform’s video-editing capabilities.
- Creative Autonomy: Operate with a high level of ownership. You will be expected to make independent creative decisions, pivot quickly, and manage projects in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage with team members to ensure the content you create reflects both our high aesthetic standards and our forward-thinking brand identity.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a storyteller who understands the rhythm of great editing and the technical demands of a modern production workflow.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 3+ years of professional video editing experience, ideally demonstrating a mix of social media engagement and high-end narrative production.
- Technical Suite: Proficiency in industry-standard tools, including DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere, Avid Media Composer, or Capcut.
- Motion Skills: Basic competency in motion graphics (After Effects or equivalent) to add polish and visual flair to your edits.
- Professionalism: A strong, polished portfolio or reel that showcases your ability to tell compelling stories through video.
- Logistics: You must be based in NYC and possess legal US work authorization to work on-site in our SoHo office.
