Job Summary : Freelance Concept Artist

Position Overview: Breathing Life Into Blank Canvases

As a Concept Artist at The Lead Vision, you will act as the visual architect of our projects. You will be responsible for translating abstract scripts, creative briefs, and rough producer notes into stunning, fully realized visual designs that guide the entire production pipeline.

Whether you are designing iconic characters, sprawling environments, intricate props, or evocative lighting keys, your work will establish the foundational style and aesthetic direction of our animated worlds. You will collaborate directly with our directors and creative supervisors to iterate on designs, ensuring a seamless bridge between initial concept and final execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Visual Exploration: Create original concept art, character designs, environmental landscapes, and prop sketches that define the aesthetic tone of diverse projects.
• Mood & Style Development: Build comprehensive mood boards, color scripts, lighting studies, and style guides to establish emotional and visual depth.
• Iterative Design: Transform rough thumbnails into polished, high-detail concept renders, providing multiple creative iterations based on collaborative team feedback.
• Pipeline Communication: Ensure your concept designs are clear, anatomically/spatially sound, and practically optimized for downstream departments like 3D modeling, texturing, rigging, and lighting.
• Deadline Management: Deliver high-quality artwork on schedule while balancing multiple creative briefs and maintaining artistic consistency.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Digital Software Proficiency: Expert command of standard digital painting and concept tools such as Adobe Photoshop and Procreate. Familiarity with 3D blocking tools (like Blender or ZBrush) for quick paintovers and composition layout is a strong plus.
• Translating Ideas: Demonstrated ability to take abstract creative concepts, vague scripts, or literary descriptions and turn them into compelling visual statements.
• Collaborative Spirit: An open, adaptable mindset toward constructive feedback, with a willingness to iterate rapidly to achieve the absolute best narrative result.
• Portfolio Quality: A stellar, professionally curated portfolio showcasing strong fundamentals in color theory, perspective, anatomy, lighting, architecture, and mood setting.
• Professional Reliability: Proven capability to work independently in a remote freelance environment while meeting rigorous production deadlines.
