Outpost VFX is seeking a visionary Senior Layout Artist to join our world-class team in the United Kingdom. In this role, you serve as the foundational architect of the frame, bridging the gap between conceptual storytelling and final visual effects execution.
As a Senior Layout Artist, you are responsible for the pre-visualization and post-visualization of shots, utilizing camera perspective, character blocking, and staging to enhance the narrative flow of high-end episodic and feature film productions.

Job Description & Core Responsibilities
As a Senior Layout Artist, your daily contributions directly influence the final look of major productions. Your responsibilities include:
1. Cinematography and Staging
Storytelling Enhancement: Use great constructions of shots through camera perspective and character blocking to drive the story forward.
Staging & Composition: Demonstrate a deep understanding of composition and staging to create visually arresting and narrative-driven layouts.
Pre-viz & Post-viz: Take responsibility for the pre-visualization and post-visualization stages of shot production.
2. Technical Execution
Multi-Software Pipeline: Efficiently navigate and work within both Houdini and Maya to build complex shot layouts.
Asset Integration: Place characters, environments, and props within the 3D scene to establish the spatial relationships required for the animation and lighting departments.
High-Level VFX: Deliver work suitable for high-level VFX projects, ensuring technical accuracy in lens choice and camera movement.
3. Collaborative Leadership
VFX Community Contribution: Contribute to the positive culture we want to spread throughout the VFX community while working on amazing high-end productions.
Mentor and Progress: Utilize internal learning and development resources to further your own skills while helping to progress the team.

Qualifications and Required Skills
To excel as a Senior Layout Artist at Outpost, you must have:
Technical Proficiency: Significant experience working in Houdini and Maya is essential.
Narrative Instinct: A great eye for layout and a natural intuition for storytelling through a lens.
Industry Track Record: Prior experience working on high-level VFX projects for film or episodic television.
Staging Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of camera lenses, sensor sizes, and the principles of physical cinematography.
Problem Solving: The ability to resolve complex staging issues and optimize layouts for the downstream pipeline (Animation, FX, and Lighting).
