Who is Outpost VFX?

Our mission is to build a creative environment where everyone feels valued, treated with respect, and empowered to make a positive difference every single day.

While we are ambitious and growing rapidly across our global studios, our primary focus remains on nurturing personal connections. We support one another, mentor our juniors, and always make time to celebrate our collective successes. We are constantly innovating—not just in our renders, but in how we improve the experience for our team, our clients, and the wider community.

  • Help shape a positive studio culture that we aim to spread throughout the VFX industry.

  • Access premium training via online platforms and our bespoke internal learning and development resources.

  • Find a clear path for career progression, whether you want to move into Lead roles, Supervision, or explore different departments.

  • Work alongside a diverse group of incredibly talented, friendly, and genuine individuals.

The Role: Senior Compositor

As a Senior Compositor, you are a master of the final image. You sit at the critical intersection of live-action cinematography and computer-generated artistry. Your role is to seamlessly blend 2D and 3D elements into visual effects shots that not only meet the technical requirements of the brief but also realize the creative vision of the client and the VFX Supervisor.

You are responsible for the aesthetic integrity and technical quality of every frame you deliver. At the Senior level, we look for artists who don’t just execute notes but anticipate challenges, suggest creative solutions, and set a standard of excellence for the rest of the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Seamless Integration: Combine 2D elements, 3D renders, and live-action footage into photorealistic shots using Nuke.

  • Creative Problem Solving: Collaborate with the Compositing Supervisor and VFX Supervisor to evaluate the best technical and creative approaches for difficult sequences.

  • Technical Mastery: Perform complex tasks including 2D/3D tracking, matte extraction (keying), rotoscoping oversight, CG element integration, and sophisticated color grading.

  • Quality Control: Maintain the overall look, color balance, and quality of assigned shots to ensure consistency across an entire sequence.

  • Mentorship: Assist in the development of Mid and Junior level compositors by sharing knowledge and providing constructive feedback on their work.

  • Workflow Optimization: Identify and help implement more efficient workflows within the compositing pipeline.

Key Skills & Qualifications

We are looking for an artist with a “can-do” attitude and a deep passion for the craft of compositing. The ideal candidate will possess:

  3. Communication: The ability to understand and apply complex shot notes from supervisors and clients effectively.

  4. Collaboration: A team-player mindset. We value artists who are approachable and willing to help their peers solve technical hurdles.

  5. Experience: Ideally 5+ years of experience in a professional VFX studio environment, with a portfolio (demo reel) showcasing high-end film or episodic work.
