Job Overview : 2D FX Artist

The Role: Breathing Life Into Motion

As a 2D FX Artist at Glow Production, you are responsible for the “magic” that happens on screen. You will be tasked with conceptualizing, designing, and animating a wide variety of effects that align with the specific visual identity of our diverse projects.

• Creative Execution: You will animate high-quality 2D FX—including smoke, fire, water, energy, and magic—ensuring that every effect feels physically grounded or stylistically appropriate for the scene.

• Pipeline Integration: Your work does not exist in a vacuum. You will collaborate closely with supervisors and the broader production team to ensure that your FX integrate seamlessly into the final animation, maintaining consistency across the entire sequence.

• Feedback & Iteration: The path to perfection requires iteration. You will be expected to receive constructive feedback with an open mind, adapting your work efficiently to meet the director’s vision while maintaining strict production timelines.

• Style Adaptability: We work on a wide variety of projects, ranging from stylized commercial spots to complex cinematics. You must have the ability to switch between different artistic styles and technical requirements with ease.

Who You Are

We are looking for an artist who combines technical discipline with a wild, creative imagination.

• Experienced Professional: You have at least 2+ years of professional 2D FX experience. You have a portfolio that demonstrates your ability to deliver high-end results in a production environment.
• A Master of Motion: You possess a strong sense of timing, weight, and the unique “feel” of motion. Whether you are animating a slow-moving cloud of smoke or a high-speed magical strike, you understand the principles of animation that make effects look “real” in their own context.
• Tool-Agnostic Mindset: You are proficient in industry-standard tools like Photoshop, Krita, or Toon Boom, and you have a working knowledge of After Effects for final assembly.
• Collaborative Spirit: We are an idea-driven culture. We value team players who are eager to share knowledge, support their colleagues, and take direction from leadership to ensure the studio as a whole succeeds.
• Bonus Skills: If you have familiarity with 3D software (Maya, Unreal, or Blender), experience in compositing, or a history of working on commercials and animated series, you will stand out as a top-tier candidate.
