Compensation

Annual Salary Range: $124,800 – $176,800 (California, British Columbia, and Quebec).
Compensation for other markets may vary. Final offer is based on experience, skills, location, and internal equity.


Position Overview

The Asset Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of asset creation for one or more productions. Reporting directly to the Head of Assets, this role ensures the timely delivery of high-quality, shot-ready assets—including modeling, facial modeling, texturing, rigging, grooming, and look development—that meet both the creative vision and technical requirements of the production.

Serving as the primary liaison between the show’s production team and the Asset Department, the Asset Supervisor translates creative direction into actionable tasks, mentors artists, and ensures departmental standards are met. This role requires both strong creative oversight and technical expertise, as well as the ability to manage resources effectively to meet production schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage all asset creation disciplines (modeling, texturing, rigging, grooming, and lookdev) for assigned production(s).

  • Act as the communication bridge between show supervisors and asset artists, ensuring clear transfer of creative and technical direction.

  • Collaborate closely with production teams to understand and fulfill show-specific asset requirements.

  • Partner with the Asset Department Producer to plan, schedule, and forecast asset delivery needs.

  • Review all asset work prior to submission for approval by the Head of Assets.

  • Identify and escalate any production or technical challenges to relevant stakeholders.

  • Oversee ingestion, organization, and accessibility of reference materials, scan data, HDRIs, and concept art for artists.

  • Ensure show setup aligns with current asset templates and departmental standards.

  • Work with the Compositing Supervisor to ensure Shoot2X formats and client presentation formats meet specifications.

  • Contribute to asset bidding for unique or complex asset requirements.

  • Collaborate with pipeline teams to troubleshoot technical issues and support asset archival processes.


Qualifications & Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in photorealistic asset creation for live-action feature films or episodic productions.

  • Expert proficiency in at least two of the following: modeling, texturing, lookdev, grooming, or rigging; strong working knowledge of the others required.

  • Solid understanding of Linux-based workflows and CG production pipelines.

  • Proven leadership or team management experience.

  • Proficiency with Maya, Houdini, Mari, Substance Painter, and Nuke; knowledge of ACES color spaces preferred.

  • Strong technical troubleshooting and optimization skills; Python or C++ experience is a plus.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.


Work Environment & Conditions

  • Office-based role with standard working hours; extended hours may be required based on production demands.

  • Physical requirements include sitting, walking, and occasional bending.
