The Script: Your Daily Responsibilities
As a Production Coordinator at Cinesite, you are the glue that holds a specific department together. Whether you are assigned to Assets, Layout, Animation, or Lighting, you are the primary point of contact for artists and the vital link to production management. Your day-to-day “script” involves:
1. Workflow and Schedule Management
Target Setting: Prepare and administer the department’s master schedule. You will be responsible for translating high-level production goals into granular assignments, targets, and weekly quotas.
Tracking: Update and maintain asset management systems (e.g., F-Track, ShotGrid) to ensure the real-time status of every shot or asset is accurate.
Prioritization: Actively manage the flow of work, ensuring artists have the resources they need to hit their deadlines without bottlenecks.
2. Strategic Communication
Stakeholder Liaison: Act as a conduit between the Department Manager, Production Manager, and the creative crew. You ensure that the “why” behind the “what” is communicated clearly to the team.
Daily Reporting: Provide daily status updates to production leadership, highlighting wins and identifying potential risks before they become delays.
Meeting Facilitation: Lead department “dailies” and “weeklies,” taking concise notes, tracking action items, and ensuring the feedback loop between supervisors and artists is closed.
3. Technical and Administrative Support
Breakdowns: Perform detailed script and storyboard breakdowns to identify necessary assets and shot elements early in the process.
Resource Management: Ensure that the artists have the technical specifications and reference materials required for their specific tasks.
Mentorship: Onboard and train Production Assistants (PAs), serving as a mentor to help grow the next generation of production talent.
Your Credits: Requirements and Qualifications
To thrive in this role, you must possess a blend of technical knowledge and interpersonal finesse. We are looking for a candidate who brings the following “credits” to the table:
Professional Experience
Longevity: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience specifically within Feature Animation. Experience in VFX or episodic animation is valued, but a deep understanding of the feature pipeline is essential.
Pipeline Knowledge: A solid grasp of the CG pipeline (from Pre-vis through to Comp). We have a strong interest in candidates with an affinity for “front-end” departments or Simulation.
Soft Skills and Competencies
Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English (French is a significant asset in the Montreal studio).
Emotional Intelligence: The ability to give and receive constructive feedback with empathy and professionalism.
Adaptability: The animation world is fluid. You must be able to pivot strategies quickly in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Initiative: A “problem-solver” mindset—you don’t just report problems; you come to the table with potential solutions.
Technical Proficiencies
Software: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas) and experience with industry-standard Asset Management Systems (F-Track, ShotGrid/Shotgun).
Organization: High-level multitasking capabilities with a rigorous attention to detail.
The Filmmaking Experience: Life at Cinesite
Choosing a career at Cinesite means more than just taking a job; it’s about joining a community. We strive to provide a “filmmaking experience” that is as rewarding for our staff as the final product is for the audience.

Hybrid Flexibility: Work where you are most productive—at home, in our state-of-the-art Montreal studio, or a mix of both.
Health and Wellness: Access to telemedicine (Dialogue), mental health support, and even on-site wellness activities like yoga and massage.
Personal Time: We offer personal days and a unique “Floating Celebration Day” so you can take time off for what matters most to you.
Growth and Development
We don’t want you to stay in the same place. We provide the tools, mentoring, and training necessary to help you reach your full potential. Whether you want to move into Production Management or explore a more technical route, Cinesite supports your journey.
Spotlight on Benefits
We offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your physical, mental, and professional health:
