Role Overview: Weaving Magic and Atmosphere

As a Senior VFX Artist on The Witcher 4, you will serve as a foundational pillar for our visual effects department. Your core mission is to design, build, and optimize high-end, real-time visual effects that elevate every facet of the player experience—from visceral combat spellcasting and magical artifacts to dynamic environmental weather and cinematic storytelling moments.

You will work at the absolute cutting edge of Unreal Engine, pushing the boundaries of what real-time rendering can achieve while maintaining strict performance budgets across massive open-world environments. Partnering closely with gameplay designers, animators, level artists, and programmers, you will transform conceptual magic into breathtaking, interactive realities that captivate millions of players worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Real-Time VFX Creation: Design and execute high-quality, performant real-time visual effects for complex combat mechanics, interactive environments, and dramatic cinematics.
• Engine Optimization: Balance breathtaking visual fidelity with rigorous performance budgets, optimizing particle counts, overdraw, and memory usage.
• Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Partner seamlessly with programming, art, and design teams to ensure visual effects integrate smoothly into active gameplay loops.
• Visual Direction: Push the boundaries of modern shaders, material graphs, and particle simulations to establish the distinct magical and atmospheric identity of the new saga.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Mandatory Portfolio: A robust, professional portfolio showcasing excellence in game-ready VFX, advanced particle simulation, and technical artistry.
• Engine Expertise: Deep, hands-on professional mastery of Unreal Engine, specifically focusing on Niagara systems, complex materials, custom shaders, and real-time optimization methods.
• Technical Foundations: Advanced understanding of real-time optimization principles, PBR (Physically Based Rendering) pipelines, and vector math.
• Bonus Qualifications: Prior professional experience utilizing Houdini for procedural asset generation and Blueprint Scripting for gameplay integration.
