We collaborate on prestigious projects for the world’s leading broadcasters, ensuring every character we create is capable of a world-class performance. We believe in fostering a “Comfortable Working Environment” where artists are empowered to learn, innovate, and grow their career paths.
Role Overview: Impact & Responsibilities
The 3D Rigger acts as the vital link between the Modeling and Animation departments. Your primary mission is to build robust, intuitive, and flexible rigs that meet the specific narrative and performance requirements of each asset.
1. Rig Development & Interpretation
Requirement Analysis: Interpret complex rig requirements for a diverse array of assets—ranging from bipedal leads to intricate mechanical props—under the guidance of the Rigging Supervisor.
System Construction: Build and refine high-quality rigs using Autodesk Maya, ensuring they adhere to the established studio pipeline.
Deformation & Weighting: Implement advanced deformers and skinning techniques to ensure organic characters move with realistic anatomy and volume preservation.
2. Cross-Departmental Problem Solving
Feedback Integration: Communicate proactively with the Animation department to understand their ergonomic needs and resolve any “on-the-fly” rig issues.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and fix technical glitches in existing rigs, ensuring that production remains on schedule and visual quality is maintained.
Pipeline Fidelity: Maintain strict naming consistencies, hierarchy structures, and constraint logic to ensure assets transition smoothly through the production funnel.
3. Delivery & Standards
Quality Assurance: Produce work that meets the “Brown Bag Standard” for both technical stability and artistic flexibility.
Deadline Management: Successfully manage personal assignments to ensure all rigs are delivered on time for the animation phase.
Required Qualifications & Technical Skills
To excel in this role, you must demonstrate a blend of technical logic and a keen eye for motion.
Professional Experience: Proven experience in a rigging role within a professional production environment (TV, Film, or Games), with a specific portfolio focus on character rigs.
Software Mastery: Fluency in Autodesk Maya (2020 or above) is mandatory.
Core Rigging Principles: Deep knowledge of rigging fundamentals, including:
Hierarchy & Transformations: Clean scene organization and logical parent-child relationships.
Constraints & Logic: Sophisticated use of Point, Orient, and IK/FK switching systems.
Deformers: Expert use of Blendshapes, Skin Clusters, and Lattice deformers.
Linguistic Skills: Ability to read and interpret technical notes or scripts written in English.
Team Synergy: A collaborative mindset with the ability to work alongside other riggers to maintain a unified studio codebase.
Preferred “Plus” Skills
Programming: Capability to write in Python or PyMel to automate repetitive tasks or develop custom rigging tools.
Advanced Troubleshooting: High-level analytical skills for developing new rigging modules and optimizing the general pipeline.
