The Role: Bringing Motion to Life

Aristocrat is a global powerhouse in gaming entertainment, and we are looking for a visionary Senior UI Animator to join our team in Barcelona. In this role, you won’t just be moving pixels; you’ll be crafting the “soul” of the player experience. You will sit at the vibrant intersection of design, storytelling, and technology, transforming static mockups into living, breathing in-game interfaces.

Whether it’s the satisfying click of a button, the fluid transition of a menu, or the expressive movement of a 2D character, your work will define the tactile “feel” of our world-class mobile titles. We are looking for an animator who is not only a master of timing and easing but also a technical pioneer ready to explore Generative AI and Technical Art to push the boundaries of what’s possible in mobile gaming.

Key Responsibilities

Your mission is to add motion, clarity, and expression to our titles through a blend of creative artistry and technical implementation.

1. Animation & Motion Design

• UI Dynamics: Create transitions and UI elements that provide immediate visual feedback, ensuring the player experience is responsive and delightful.

• Character & Environment: Animate 2D characters and background elements to support narrative beats and enhance the overall gameplay atmosphere.

• Prototyping: Use industry-standard tools like After Effects, Animate, or Spine to build high-fidelity motion comps and prototypes.

2. Technical Implementation & Optimization

• Unity Integration: Take ownership of implementing your assets directly into the Unity 2D animation system, ensuring they look and perform exactly as intended.

• Tech Art Collaboration: Partner with Technical Artists to optimize assets, ensuring they run smoothly across various mobile platforms and performance constraints.

• Shaders & Scripting: (Plus) Leverage Unity timelines, shaders, or light scripting to elevate the complexity and polish of in-game motion.

3. Innovation & Strategy

• Generative AI: Explore and prototype using GenAI tools to accelerate creative concepting and expand the studio’s animation toolkit.

• Motion Guidelines: Maintain comprehensive documentation and animation libraries to ensure consistency across different game screens and future updates.

What We Are Looking For

We need a teammate who balances an artistic eye with a disciplined, performance-oriented mindset.

• Experience: 2+ years of professional experience specifically animating UI and 2D elements within a game development environment.

• Principles: A rock-solid grasp of animation fundamentals: timing, easing, flow, squash/stretch, and weight.

• Unity Proficiency: A deep understanding of how to implement UI animations within Unity for mobile devices.

• Optimization Savvy: Knowledge of mobile performance constraints; you know how to make things look beautiful without breaking the frame rate.

• English Proficiency: Professional-level English and excellent interpersonal skills for a global, diverse team.

Technical Bonus Points

• Experience with Technical Art or light scripting.

• Familiarity with Generative AI tools for motion concepting.
