We are currently seeking a highly motivated Houdini FX Artist to join our Delhi studio. This is an exciting opportunity for early-career professionals or artists with 0–2 years of experience who are passionate about FX, simulations, and 3D visual effects. Role Overview:As a Houdini FX Artist at The Outliners Studio, you will be responsible for creating high-quality 3D effects and simulations, working across multiple projects, and contributing to the visual storytelling of our productions. You will collaborate closely with the creative and technical team to develop dynamic FX that enhance the cinematic quality of our projects. This role requires both technical proficiency and artistic sensibility, as well as excellent project management and communication skills. You will play a key part in executing complex simulations such as smoke, fire, fluid dynamics, explosions, destruction, and other real-time and rendered effects. Your work will directly contribute to the quality and impact of our projects, ensuring that every sequence is visually compelling and technically robust. Key Responsibilities: FX Creation and Simulation: Design, simulate, and implement a wide range of FX including fire, smoke, dust, water, explosions, debris, and destruction sequences using Houdini and other industry-standard tools. Collaborate with the animation and lighting teams to ensure FX integrate seamlessly with the overall scene composition. Maintain consistency with the artistic vision and project guidelines while delivering innovative solutions to visual challenges. Project Management: Manage multiple FX shots or sequences simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met without compromising quality. Organize and track project tasks, timelines, and deliverables using studio tools and production management systems. Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding progress, challenges, and potential improvements. Collaboration: Work closely with directors, VFX supervisors, technical directors, and other artists to understand creative objectives and translate them into FX solutions. Participate in team reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers. Collaborate across departments to ensure FX are properly integrated into final renders and that assets are optimized for production pipelines. Technical Proficiency: Utilize Houdini for procedural FX generation, simulations, and scene setup. Apply knowledge of Blender and other 3D software to support asset creation and scene integration. Implement efficient workflows for simulation caching, rendering, and compositing. Quality Assurance: Ensure all FX are technically accurate, optimized, and meet the visual standards of The Outliners Studio. Identify and troubleshoot technical or artistic issues promptly. Continuously seek to improve FX quality and workflow efficiency. Skills & Requirements: Proficiency in Houdini: Strong understanding of Houdini workflows, procedural FX, and simulation techniques. Experience with Blender is a plus. Portfolio: Demonstrable work or projects showcasing FX, simulations, or 3D effects, either as personal projects or professional experience. Technical & Artistic Skills: Ability to balance creative vision with technical implementation. Strong understanding of physics, motion, particle systems, and dynamics is essential. Project Management: Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently, meet deadlines, and communicate progress clearly. Teamwork & Communication: Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and take direction while contributing ideas. Adaptability: Open to learning new techniques and tools to stay current in the rapidly evolving field of VFX. Experience: 0–2 years in FX or related fields.
