📍 Toronto, Ontario (Remote | Toronto 2D) About the RoleMavericks VFX is seeking a Compositing Supervisor to lead our compositing team and ensure all project deliveries meet the highest technical and creative standards. You’ll guide artists through complex creative challenges, collaborate across departments, and help refine workflows for consistent, efficient, and photorealistic results. ✨ Key Responsibilities Collaborate with Production and creative departments to achieve project goals. Ensure all compositing work meets technical and creative benchmarks across shots. Plan, coordinate, and review compositing deliveries for assigned projects. Supervise and mentor the compositing team, providing leadership and technical support. Troubleshoot and resolve compositing issues efficiently. Share expertise in tracking, color correction, depth of field, retiming, warping, and optical effects to achieve realistic results. Perform hands-on compositing for complex live-action and full CG shots. Develop and refine production workflows to anticipate challenges and improve efficiency. 🧠 Qualifications 7+ years of live-action feature film or episodic compositing experience, including 2+ years in a lead or supervisory role. Expert-level Nuke skills and strong understanding of compositing workflows. Solid grasp of 3D graphics, lighting, animation, real-time rendering, and AI-assisted tools. Knowledge of on-set techniques, film cameras, lenses, and cinematography. Strong leadership, communication, and time management skills. Experience with ShotGrid, Flow, or similar production tracking tools. A passion for training, mentoring, and sharing knowledge with your team. Bonus: Experience with Python scripting, Nuke particles, or advanced comp techniques. 📍 Toronto, Ontario (Remote | Toronto 3D) About the RoleMavericks VFX is seeking a Senior Digital Matte Painting / Environment Artist to create stunning, photorealistic environments and concept art for live-action VFX projects. You’ll help define the look, feel, and atmosphere of scenes through both 2D and 3D artistry — blending creativity with technical excellence. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with the Environment Lead, CG Supervisor, and Compositing teams to ensure seamless visual integration across all elements. ✨ Key Responsibilities Create detailed concept art and complex 2D/2.5D matte paintings for live-action and CG integration. Develop visual references and concept art that guide creative direction and production. Work closely with Environment, CG, and Compositing teams to maintain continuity and quality. Explore and implement innovative techniques, tools, and AI-assisted workflows to enhance efficiency. Review and provide constructive feedback on environment work. Stay current with the latest tools, trends, and best practices in matte painting and environment creation. 🧠 Qualifications 3+ years of experience as a Digital Matte Painter or Environment Artist in live-action film or episodic VFX. Strong artistic sense with deep understanding of composition, lighting, color, and perspective. Skilled in Photoshop and 3D software like Maya, Houdini, or Blender. Experience with projection techniques and camera setups. Working knowledge of Nuke or similar compositing tools. Familiarity with Unreal Engine and AI-based environment generation is a plus. Excellent multitasking and time-management skills under tight deadlines.
