Headquartered in Cyprus, our studio operates on a decentralized, global remote model. We bring together top-tier talent from around the world, united by a shared passion for high-stakes, mechanics-driven gameplay and immersive world-building. We champion an internal culture built on transparency, creative autonomy, and mutual support. At HyperHug, we believe that giving developers true ownership over their work fosters the highest level of innovation and career fulfillment. Flagship Project: Oxide: Survival Island Oxide: Survival Island is a highly competitive, open-world multiplayer survival shooter built specifically for mobile platforms. The game challenges players to survive harsh environments, manage resources, build bases, and engage in tactical gunplay. Because the environment serves as the direct stage for player base-building, tactical positioning, and resource gathering, creating a spatially logical and visually engaging world is critical to our gameplay experience. Job Description & Core Responsibilities as 3D Environment & Prop Artist Role Overview as 3D Environment & Prop Artist As a 3D Environment & Prop Artist, your primary mandate is to build immersive, grounded, and believable open-world locations. You will design and implement the physical assets that establish the game’s atmosphere—ranging from rugged natural landscapes (cliffs, rocks, dynamic vegetation) to artificial structures (abandoned buildings, industrial props, and survival components). You will ensure that every asset supports player navigation, visual storytelling, and tactical clarity while remaining highly optimized. Key Responsibilities as 3D Environment & Prop Artist 1. Full-Pipeline Asset Creation & Implementation End-to-End Development: Author high-quality 3D environment assets and props from the initial concept or blockout stage to final implementation within the game engine. High & Low-Poly Modeling: Create clean, efficient low-poly geometry backed by high-poly bakes, ensuring sharp silhouettes and readable details on mobile screens. Organic & Hard-Surface World Building: Sculpt and texture realistic world elements, including terrain surfaces, diverse vegetation, rock formations, cliffs, and structural architecture. 2. Modular Design & Level Construction Modular Kits: Develop smart, reusable modular asset kits for structures and industrial props to ensure rapid and cohesive world assembly. Cross-Discipline Collaboration: Partner closely with Level Designers to transform technical layout blockouts into visually striking, fully realized zones that respect player flow, collision, and sightlines. Visual Storytelling: Use asset placement, distressing, and prop composition to inject environmental narrative into abandoned structures and survival outposts. 3. Strict Mobile Optimization Performance Budgets: Manage strict mobile technical limits, balancing polygon counts, texture memory allocations, and level-of-detail (LOD) transitions. Draw Call Reduction: Utilize efficient texture atlases, trim sheets, batching techniques, and material sharing to minimize engine draw calls and mitigate overdraw issues on small, lower-spec displays. Candidate Profile & Qualifications The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of spatial logic and natural geology, backed by the technical discipline required to launch large-scale open worlds on mobile hardware. You are self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable collaborating across time zones. Technical & Experience Requirements Professional Experience: 3+ years of professional experience operating as a 3D Environment Artist within the games industry, preferably focusing on open-world or mobile projects. Pipeline Mastery: Expert knowledge of the complete environment art pipeline, including asset blockouts, UV layouts, texturing, material configuration, and engine integration. Software Stack: High proficiency with modern texturing suites (e.g., Substance Painter) and at least one primary DCC package (Blender, Autodesk Maya, or 3DS Max). Advanced Mobile Optimization: Practical experience implementing optimization strategies like texture packing, trim sheets, lodding, and resolving screen-space readability issues. Specialized Portfolio: A comprehensive online portfolio demonstrating realistic environment art, organic asset creation, modular structural kits, and completely assembled game scenes. Language & Communication Skills Due to our global operations and collaborative workflows, candidates must meet the following linguistic criteria: English: B1+ level or higher (effective professional working proficiency). Russian: C1 level or higher (near-native fluency for seamless internal communication). Preferred Advantages (Bonus Points) Hands-on experience working within the Unity URP (Universal Render Pipeline) ecosystem, including managing shaders, real-time lighting, baking lightmaps, post-processing profiles, and mobile rendering constraints. A strong personal interest in the survival shooter genre or realistic, gritty architectural/industrial design styles. What We Offer & Studio Culture At HyperHug, we provide an environment designed to let artists focus entirely on world-building, eliminating regional barriers and corporate bureaucracy. Financial Security: A highly competitive salary package reflective of your experience level and regional market value.
