We are not just a studio; we are a community of storytellers. Here, you will find a collaborative and inspiring work environment where your technical expertise serves a greater purpose: breathing life into characters, enabling them to convey the subtle nuances and strong emotions that make animation truly unforgettable. Whether we are crafting wild, comedic styles or building grounded, realistic universes, your work will be the bridge between a static model and a living, breathing performance. You will be responsible for creating the sophisticated deformation systems that allow our animators to achieve their vision without technical friction. You won’t just be moving bones; you will be solving complex anatomical and mechanical puzzles to ensure our characters can act, react, and resonate with audiences worldwide. Core Responsibilities: Rigging Excellence: Design, build, and maintain complex, efficient, and user-friendly deformation rigs for a variety of 3D characters, props, and creatures. Creative Partnership: Collaborate directly with the Animation Director and the animation team to ensure that the rigs perfectly meet the needs of the performance. You will be an active participant in finding technical solutions to artistic challenges. Pipeline Development: Develop and maintain internal tools to streamline production. Your goal is to make the rigging and animation process faster, more stable, and more enjoyable for the entire team. Scripting & Automation: Utilize your programming skills to write custom Python scripts that automate repetitive tasks, allowing the team to focus on creativity rather than manual labor. Troubleshooting: Act as a technical resource for the animation team, providing real-time support and debugging rigs to ensure production stays on schedule.   What We Are Looking For We are looking for a teammate who is as comfortable with a script editor as they are with a character model. You are someone who takes pride in the “hidden” side of animation—the complex systems that make the impossible look effortless. Professional Requirements: Education: A degree in 3D Animation or an equivalent combination of professional experience and technical training. Industry Experience: 2–3 years of professional experience in a similar rigging role, ideally within a feature film production environment. Software Mastery: Expert-level knowledge of Maya. You should be comfortable navigating complex node structures and managing high-density meshes. Specialized Tools: Proficient experience with mGear and Shotgrid is essential for our pipeline. Technical Versatility: Strong proficiency in Python scripting is required to support our custom toolsets. The “X-Factor”: While not mandatory, previous experience rigging birds or other avian anatomy would be a significant advantage. Soft Skills: You are a natural communicator with a collaborative spirit. You understand that the best rigs are born from constant feedback and iterative design.   Why Join Us? 10 Ave Animation is committed to providing a flexible workspace that respects your lifestyle. Whether you prefer the creative energy of our studio on the historic Grande-Allée in Québec City, the convenience of a hybrid schedule, or the autonomy of working fully remote from anywhere in Canada, we support your choice. We offer: Competitive Salary: Compensation ranging from CAD $65,000 to $85,000, commensurate with experience. Inspiring Projects: The chance to work on high-profile, internationally recognized 3D feature films. Professional Growth: An opportunity to work alongside some of the best creative minds in the Canadian animation industry. Flexibility: We respect your need for work-life balance and offer flexible work location arrangements.   How to Apply Are you ready to build the rigs that will define our next great story? We would love to see your work. To apply, please send your resume and a link to your current demo reel/portfolio to: talent@10ave.com. Please ensure your portfolio includes breakdowns or explanations of your rigging process. We want to see not just the final result, but how you approached the technical challenges behind the performance. 10 Ave Animation is an equal opportunity employer. We value diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all our artists and staff.
